Born from a Greek Cypriot father and a Turkish Cypriot mother, Mert lives a quiet life living in between the capital and a tiny town on the coastline. He doesn't travel much or participate in many tournaments, primarily staying within the Mediterranean area; therefore he's unknown to most. Mert makes his money working at a battle facility in Nicosia.

Mert's first Pokemon was his Relicanth that he inherited from his grandfather upon his death when he was a child. His ace is his Samurott.
