A trainer with expensive taste, Laurent only gets the best for his Pokemon. He is hard-working and trains frequently but prefers contests over competitive battling. He doesn't travel much; he primarily sticks to European tournaments, therefore his name is not easily recognized by most trainers. Much of his team was crafted with the help of Pokemon breeders in the Benelux region or were gifted to him by relatives. He has never caught a Pokemon on his own.

Laurent's parents briefly lived in Luxembourg for work at the time of his birth, however he spent much of his childhood in Brussels when the family moved back to Belgium. His heart has always remained in Luxembourg and returned to the country once he was old enough to leave home. Because he was born in the country, he was able to spend his whole career competing under their flag. When he began competing tournaments, many people struggled with his surname, so he adopted a surname to keep things simple and eventually he made it his legal surname. Laurent has never been close with his parents but loves his older siblings dearly, who he credits with his success. His first Pokemon was a Lillipup and was given to him by his siblings. It has now become his ace as a Stoutland.
