Kiku is what many would call "a model trainer." He trains his Pokemon well, pushing his team to a respectable limit to bring out their best, and treats his opponents with good sportsmanship. He's known for studying his opponents before battle and makes his plans based on their team roasters and battle styles. Kiku got his start participating in tournaments as early as 10 years old in his home country, but gradually began making waves in tournaments overseas in his late teens. He was an apprentice of Yao's for some time but severed ties with him after their views and styles began to conflict with one another.

Kiku's first Pokemon was his Rowlet and is now his ace as a Hisuian Decidueye. However, he is heavily associated with his Greninja as well.
