Unlike his sister who competes for fun, Jan battles for the money and the titles. He is known for his no-nonsense style and battles with strength and speed. His skills have earned him high rankings, landing in the Top 5 in The Netherlands and the Top 30 in global standings.

Jan is also known for his ways of making money. He frequently uses the Amulet Coin to up the prize money won during battles and buys and sells goods from other trainers at a higher selling price. Back home in Amsterdam, he runs a special breeding and daycare service for rabbit Pokemon species with his father. When Jan is away from home, his father takes on all the duties. He wants to take over the family business from him when he retires from competing professionally.
