Cian comes from a family of Pokemon professors who specialize in mythology. He inherited his love for Fairy-types from his father and intends to follow in his footsteps once he retires from competitive battling. Like Connor, he loves to travel and it's not uncommon to find him deep within forests, caves, and ruins for research. Cian is one of the few trainers who maintains two separate teams depending on whether he's playing generic matches or type specific. His battle style is described as "sneaky" by opponents, a style he picked up from his mother whose is a Ghost-type enthusiast.

Cian's ace is his Staraptor, who served as his first Pokemon as a baby Starly. When he battles with his Fairy-type team, his Ribombee serves as his ace.
