Cécile comes from a wealthy family who own much of the tourism industry in the tiny principality. Currently, they own several casinos, hotels, and the country's only battle facility. Cécile has been participating in tournaments since she was 12 years old but primarily only partakes in those in Europe and North America, making her fairly unknown to most audiences.

Cécile is not interesting in making herself go global in competitive battling. She's happy where she stands now and whenever she decides to retire from competing, she has a spot secured for her at the battle facility. Much of her Pokemon were given to her by her parents, including her starter and ace Persian.
