Eight Hours

Lithuania left the office in a huff. His bosses had no idea what had come over him but they knew better than to try to stop him. Instead they chose to worryingly watch him from the windows of their shared office space on the top floor, as Lithuania threw his belongings in the back of his car and sped away.

It didn’t take him long to find the sign he needed: A2 – E272. He had long decided he wasn’t going home tonight.

The hours past as the sun slowly sets in the horizon and Lithuania has crossed Latvia’s borders. His phone has been vibrating inside the cup holder on and off for nearly an hour while American pop music blares from the speakers. Lithuania should be paying attention to the road but his mind is elsewhere. His face flushes a cherry red and he swallows hard. Bright coloured blueish-green eyes behind thin black frames, soft lips, slender hands, and his strong arms wrapped around him as they lay together in warm cotton sheets. He wants all of him.

I've got pictures in my head
Only thought of you in my bed

Lithuania shivered. Those lyrics had no business hitting so close to home.

The time was almost midnight and he finally reached Nõmme in southern Tallinn. His eyes were heavy but excitement pooled into his stomach. Even with little light, Lithuania had traveled these roads enough times that he knew them from the back of his hand. It seemed only like a matter of minutes when he reached Estonia’s home. He was careful to grab all of his belongings and quietly walked up the steps.

Before he could knock, the door opened and Estonia stood in the doorway wearing a heavy blue housecoat and black slippers. Underneath his coat, he sported a simple white shirt and plaid blue pajama pants. He looked exhausted but his charming smile still manages to shine through.

“You’re early,” he joked. “I could have sworn we were supposed to meet on Saturday, not Wednesday.”

“I know but—”

Lithuania didn’t get a chance to finish when Estonia’s lips touched his. He felt an explosion from within his chest. Eight hours of driving had lead to this moment and Lithuania let himself get lost with everything that Estonia was giving him.

But just as things were beginning, Estonia was quick to pull away, leaving Lithuania a little lightheaded and flustered. But he’s quick to see the sultry look in Estonia’s eyes. There’s still more to come.

“Come inside and warm up. I couldn’t sleep so I made some tea. There’s plenty for the two of us.”
